Clavia receives the musical instruments manufacturers' "Grammy" award for the Nord Electro 2 - again!

On Thursday evening, April 1 2004 at the Frankfurt Musikmesse, the 5th annual Musikmesse International Press Award (M.I.P.A.) ceremony took place. The ceremony is the musical instruments manufacturer's fifth major award ceremony and is a collaboration between the music trade fair and the international music press. 58 specialist journals from all over the world have combined to select the M.I.P.A. awards. The jury presented awards for outstanding products in more than 40 categories, ranging from drum sticks to high-end digital mixers.

Among all the great manufactures of organs/portable keyboards, Clavia was chosen and received the prize for the 'most outstanding Organ/Portable Keyboard of the year 2003/2004' for the Nord Electro 2! Last year, the Nord Electro 2 also received a M.I.P.A. prize in the 'stage piano' category. This means the Nord Electro 2 has now received two M.I.P.A. prizes - one for each of its instrument sections!

The Nord Electro 2

The Nord Electro 2 is a compact and lightweight stage keyboard which emulates the B-3 drawbar organ and electric and acoustic pianos. The organ section in the Electro 2 is based on a digitally modeled B-3 drawbar organ. It offers innovative solutions to mimic the typical B-3 sound, for example: A complex digital model of the original chorus and vibrato scanner, modeling of the individual random contact bounces for each partial, modeling of the unique frequency characteristics of the built-in pre-amplifier which forms the "body” of the B-3 sound, simulation of the energy stealth on the tone wheels that results in the typical compressed sound and authentic tuning of the tone wheels according to the original B-3 design.

The other instrument section of the Nord Electro 2 contains piano instruments which are built up by a vast amount of multi-samples to catch every nuance throughout the whole dynamic range. This makes the Nord Electro 2 sound extremely realistic. The Nord Electro 2 comes with six multi-sampled piano intruments stored in the internal memory: Electric Piano Mk I Suitcase Piano, Electric Piano Mk V Stage Piano, Wurlitzer 200A, Clavinet D6 (with 64 filter and pickup combinations), the custom modified Clavia Electric Grand Model G and a close miked acoustic Malmsjoe Grand Piano in stereo. Several additional piano instrument sounds are available for download at the Clavia web site - free of charge.

Any organ or piano sound can be routed through the high-quality Effects section of the Electro 2. The Effects section features "vintage" style effects like Tube Overdrive Distrortion, Tremolo, Auto-Pan, Wah-Wah, Chorus, Phaser, Flanger, Ring-modulation and Rotary Speaker simulation.

The combination of a digitally modeled B-3 organ and great multi-sampled piano instruments in a single, compact and lightweight instrument makes the Nord Electro 2 the ultimate stage keyboard. The Nord Electro 2 comes in three different models: the 5-octave Nord Electro 2 SixtyOne, the 6-octave Nord Electro 2 SeventyThree and the 19" rack mountable Nord Electro Rack 2.
